Castel National Park

On the summit of Mount Castel is a Crusader fortress that was built to guard the route to Jerusalem.  This strategic point and vital command post was the site of a difficult five day battle, immediately prior to the War of Independence in 1948. 

The Castel is an interesting Bar Mitzvah venue. The outside area, with its beautiful and scenic views, is perfect for a reception and/or a meal.  There is plenty of space for a craft or calligraphy workshop if desired. The Bar Mitzvah boy himself can give an explanation of the Castel area and its history, from biblical times until the present.  There are underground trenches that lead up to the fortress (there are regular paths as well). The guests can then go inside the fortress, where there is a room with an oil press and an audio-visual room featuring a movie about the Castel (you can watch it in English).  Guests with mobility issues can drive up to the fortress, although a 4X4 vehicle is recommended.  Wedding ceremonies can also be conducted on top of Mount Castel, with the celebration to follow at nearby Ein Hemed National Park.

The Castel offers history and nature all in one place.  It's a beautiful and meaningful setting for a special occasion.
